RSS & Podcast Information

RSS & PodcastWhat is RSS:
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and is a method for collecting and distributing news and information. You can read the feeds you subscribe to by using a tool called an aggregate feeder or reader. Two such tools are FeedDemon (for Windows) and NewsNetWire (for Macintosh) although there are many more available. You can download these -- and many more feeders -- for free at Download.com. If you subscribe to the Monster Career Advice RSS feed, new articles and tools will be delivered automatically to your feeder.

How Do I Use an RSS Feed?
Download the reader of your choice, and link to the feed using this URL: http://content.monster.co.uk/rss.xml. That's all it takes to receive new Monster Career Advice content as soon as it's updated.

Podcast
Podcasts are just sounds clips that are delivered directly to your Podcast software (see “Podcast Client”) or MP3 player. Podcasts can vary in duration and topic and can be played on any MP3 player or on your desktop computer. Like RSS, there is no need to provide an email address to subscribe to a feed.  To subscribe to the Podcast, simply enter the URL (for Monster UK http://media.monster.com/uken/podcast/podcast.xml) into your Podcast Software where prompted.  The latest episode will then be downloaded automatically as soon as it is posted!

Podcast Client
This is a piece of software which allows you to receive the podcast directly. Apple’s “iTunes” supports podcasts and is a good option for iPod users. Alternatively, a range of free to download programmes do a similar job. Applications like “Juice” and iPodder allow you to enter the address of the podcast and will automatically update the feed when a new podcast is available.
