Regarding Recruitment Resourcer jobs specifically, you need to prepare for these interviews more than you would any other as it’s probably going to be part of your role to sit on the other side of the interviewing table at some point so you’ll need to come across as a genuine expert.
Questions will generally focus around your ability to interact with people on a one-to-one basis so be ready with some examples of your experiences doing this either in your professional or personal life.
“What are your weaknesses?” is probably the most commonly used question at job interviews but many people still fail to prepare adequately for it. Obviously the employer isn’t looking for you to completely slate yourself and tell them how useless you are, they’re looking to find out how self aware you are of your skill gaps.
Nobody is perfect, so try and identify an area where you have made positive steps to improve your performance. This shows you’re aware of where you need to improve, and that you’re prepared to put in the effort to turn the weakness into a plus point.
Many people choose to go for the “Sometimes I work too hard” option, thinking that it will suggest to the employers that you’re going to be a committed employee. This is such a clichéd answer nowadays and it’s seen as completely avoiding the question.
Never say “I don’t have any weaknesses”. No matter how modest you may be, you know in your heart of hearts it isn’t true!
